If you were to ask me about my realtor journey while we were having coffee, Iād probably tell you this story and laugh halfway through it, still wondering what happened.
On 28 September 2024, right after I passed my RES exam, my laoban Benson brought me down to PropNex CES.
After that, we went for a simple meal. That was the first time I met laobanniang Jessie.
Somewhere between the food and conversation, she looked at me and said: āTry to aim for top rookie.ā
I remembered replying āI only got one shot for top rookie leh, how to! If I can even close one deal, I very happy already.ā š
That was where I was at.
No big dreams of awards. No vision boards. Just⦠hoping I wouldnāt fail.
But nonetheless, she assured me that I can do it.
Fast forward to 2025 when I officially started.
I didnāt really chase that ātop rookieā goal. In fact, I kind of forgot about it LOL.
What I focused on instead was simple:
-
Learning as much as I could
-
Showing up to every training
-
Asking questions (even the blur ones) ā Jonathan could vouch for that HAHA
-
Trying, failing, adjusting
Just getting 1% better each time.
And today ā 21 April 2026 ā I was recognised as one of the top rookies for KNA for year 2025.
Nothing huge. Nothing headline-worthy. If anything, I still have a super long way to go.
But it made me pause.
Because suddenly, I remembered that moment at the table ā when someone believed in me more than I believed in myself.
The funny thing is, chasing trophies was never my goal.
The reason I stepped into real estate was much simpler: I just wanted to help people around me make better property decisions.
To guide those who feel lost. To give clarity where thereās confusion. To be someone I wish I had when I first started learning about property.
And that hasnāt changed.
If anything, this milestone just reminded me:
Growth doesnāt always come from chasing big goals. Sometimes it comes from quietly doing the work, again and again, even when no one is watching.
To laoban and laobanniang ā thank you for believing in me when I didnāt.
To Team T.R.M.C ā thank you for always sharing and giving me space to grow.
And to my dearest clients ā thank you for trusting this rookie. š¤
I may not be the best salesperson, but I can assure you Iām constantly working to be 1% better each day ā so I can guide you better than I did yesterday. āØ
